One such seasonal release ready to return to store shelves is Barrel- Aged Ten FIDY Imperial Stout, a strong brew perfect for a cold winter day.
Barrel Aged Ten FIDY is a beer that takes patience and care to prepare for drinking. Oskar Blues uses its own Ten FIDY Imperial Stout, adding the beer to bourbon barrels in early spring. The beer than ages for a full eight months, slowly picking up flavors of whiskey, wood, and vanilla as it transforms into the barrel- aged gem that so many craft beer fans love and crave.
Tim Matthews, Oskar Blues Head of Brewing Operations, says this beer takes quite an effort to produce but it is time and energy well spent.
“Ten FIDY is a complicated beer for our brewers but they really dig into the behemoth task of delivering a big-time stout,” said Matthews. “Barrel-aging ups the ante even further – ramping up the chocolate, coffee and roasted notes to the maximum.”
Oskar Blues Brewery knows its fans have an ongoing love affair with Barrel- Aged Ten FIDY and to encourage this affection, the Oskar Blues taprooms are marking the return of this beloved beer with an ‘open the vaults’ celebration on Black Friday, November 29. Taprooms in Boulder and Longmont, Colorado and in Brevard, North Carolina will be reaching into their secret stashes of barrel aged brew, releasing vintage beers from past years. Guests can purchase mixed four- packs of Ten FIDY variations including such delectable releases as Salted Caramel, JAHvanilla, Chocolate Hazelnut Praline, Java, and others.
Barrel- Aged Ten FIDY weighs in at 12.5 percent alcohol by volume. It will be distributed nationally on draft and in four packs of 12 oz. cans started in mid to late November. Look for it where Oskar Blues beers are presently sold or use the Oskar Blues online beerfinder to find the beer near you.
