Oskar Blues Brewery can always be counted on for innovation. The Colorado- based brewery helped to re- popularize metal cans and its talented team is constantly looking for opportunities to tantalize our taste buds with new, creative suds. The latest offering?- Rosé for Daze, a crisp rosé-style ale, great for a warm summer day.
With a name like Rosé for Daze you are probably thinking there is a wine connection to be found here, and you would be correct. This new beer doesn’t contain wine and isn’t aged in wine barrels, but it was inspired by wine. It features tart prickly pear flavors combined with hibiscus and lots of bubbly goodness, similar to the flavors and character present in many of America’s best pink wines. A dose of Aramis and Centennial hops add berry and floral notes and remind drinkers that, however much this beverage might seem wine- like, it is still a beer, through and through.
Tim Matthews, Oskar Blues Head of Brewery Operations, says this new beer was brewed to mimic the drier rose wines and is designed to offer summertime refreshment.
“We chose ingredients with big, fresh flavor and combined them at an approachable ABV,” said Matthews. “While rosé wines can range in sweetness, we were inspired by the crisp, dry end of the spectrum and focused on tart, floral notes. The result is a summery, balanced thirst-quencher perfect for patio season.”
Rosé for Daze weighs in at a moderate 6 percent alcohol by volume and is available in six- packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. To find where this new beer is sold near you, visit the Oskar Blues beerfinder online.
