Oskar Blues Brewery, the craft beer operation that helped bring metal cans back into style, has announced the release of The Works, a nationally distributed 12 pack mixer featuring three popular beers. The Works includes six cans of Oskar’s Lager along with three cans each of Dale’s Pale Ale and the brand- new Double Dale’s Imperial IPA, an amped- up version of Dale’s Pale Ale that is certain to please hopheads of all ages.
Here’s a quick rundown of each beer, just in case you haven’t tried them yet:
Oskar’s Lager (4% ABV): This is one of the lightest beers to ever adorn the Oskar Blues logo. It’s a crisp, smooth, highly crushable lager with low alcohol by volume, but still more than enough flavor to satisfy. And with six cans, you have enough of this session beer available to keep you going for the duration.
Dale’s Pale Ale (6.5% ABV): The brewery’s flagship, Dale’s Pale Ale is responsible for the now widespread respect for metal packaging. It’s a hop- forward beer, yet one that still remains remarkably balanced by a generous helping of pale malts. It’s a fan favorite that most every craft beer fan has enjoyed at some point and likely continues to enjoy.
Double Dale’s Imperial IPA (9% ABV): One of Oskar Blues’ newest creations, this is a big, unforgettable double IPA. The beer helps to celebrate Oskar Blues’ 20th CANiversary and is brewed with generous quantities of Talus and Eldorado hops, resulting in a beer with citrus and tropical notes that, like Dale’s Pale Ale, still manages to rely on flavor contributions from its malt base for a somewhat more balanced flavor than other double IPA.
Oskar Blues Brewery knows all- too- well how packaging matters to beer lovers. Dale’s Pale Ale helped lead a renaissance in canned beer when it was initially released back in 2002. Many people, myself included, were shocked to see a pale ale in a metal can and we wondered aloud what this brewery could possibly be thinking. But the taste won us over, quickly dispelling the myth that craft, canned beer tasted funny and would never catch on.
The Works Mixed Pack is unique in its choice of quantities. Most 12- pack mixers include equal numbers of cans for each beer in the pack. Always aware of consumer preferences and practicality, Oskar Blues realized that the lighter, more session- oriented beer would be the one that craft beer drinkers would turn to more frequently. It thus made sense to increase the number of cans of the lager. The 6- 3- 3 ratio should suit craft beer lovers everywhere.
You can find The Works on shelves nationwide in 12-packs of 12 oz. cans right now, wherever Oskar Blues beer is sold. Grab them now, and celebrate Oskar Blues’ and the spring season in style!
These all sound like great beers. I would love to try the Imperial IPA. That sounds just my speed.
Thanks for sharing this. I’d love to try Dale’s Pale Ale. My hubby would love it too!
I haven’t tried any of these beers but I’d love to try them all. I’ll start with Oskar’s Lager
Good starting choice! It’s the most easy- drinking of the three
I bet my husband would love to try these. They sound like something he’d love.
Ooohhhh…alright then! I hope these cans are recyclable, at the end of it all!
I love trying new beers, every time I go to Publix I pick a new beer to try. I will stay away from the IPA but the others I will try.
How fun! I love trying new beers to see what is good. This would also be fun for a party!
I love local beers and have tried quite a few round home. For some reason they always taste far nicer!
Interesting! I don’t drink beers a lot but it’s good to know about them when I want to drink them. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this interesting post and I at least know which one to pick or not depending on which I can handle.
