Oskar Blues is one of the most popular names in craft beer. The Colorado- based brewery has delighted its fans with full- bodied goodness over the years but now, Oskar Blues is moving in a different direction, releasing Oskar’s Lager, a lighter beer with reduced alcohol, calories, and carbs.
Oskar’s Lager is the type of beer brewed for those who want something with less of what they don’t want and more of what they do want. We are all familiar with the stereotypical light beer that tastes like watery grains and barely perceptible hops. Oskar’s Lager busts this stereotype with a beer brewed to taste flavorful, smooth, and crisp while still managing to keep the calories and carbs in check.
Ryan Dunnavant, Oskar Blues VP of Operations, says this beer is designed to be pleasing and agreeable.
“Beer can be a friend and it brings friends together – a winning combo,” says Dunnavant. “When developing this recipe, we had in mind a Japanese concept called ‘kire,’ which in the beer world means a pleasing crispness with cleansing properties. Like a conversation with an old friend, Oskar’s Lager is classic, refreshing and invigorating.”
Oskar’s Lager is brewed using pilsner malt, Czech Saaz Hops, and toasted rice. The alcohol content is 4.2 percent by volume and a 12 oz. can contains a scant 95 calories and 2.5 grams of carbs. The beer is packaged in 15 packs and 6 packs of 12 oz. cans. Look for it where other Oskar Blues beer is sold and enjoy the reduced calorie and lower carb refreshment of this lager brew.
