Oskar Blues Brewery, the Colorado operation responsible for the popularity of canned craft beer, announced that its soft drink business, B. Stiff and Sons Old Fashioned Soda Pop Company, will begin distribution to four new states and three new countries. The rapid growth of craft soda pop has resulted in higher demand and the folks at Oskar Blues Brewery have responded, installing new equipment and branching out into new markets.
B. Stiff and Sons will soon make its way into Oregon, Utah, Texas, and Florida as well as Australia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Growth of the soft drink brand has been nothing short of impressive, with sales increasing 68 percent compared to 2015. Capacity is also up significantly, climbing 166 percent and spurred by such equipment additions as:
- 1000 gallon stainless steel mixing tank, providing faster sugar dilution and the ability to brew larger, more consistent batches
- Silver State Stainless jacketed bright tank, very useful for its ability to cool the brew faster, leading to improved levels of carbonation and faster batch turnaround
- Hobart Buffalo Chopper, perfect for processing fresh ginger root
- 1000 pound CO2 tank, allowing for more consistent and higher carbonation levels
- Kinetico Three-Stage water filtration system, improving the quality of the water, which means better tasting soda.
B. Stiff and Sons Sales Manager Geoff Hess says the added capacity and equipment additions have aided tremendously in the execution of these market expansions.
“The recent capacity increases allowed us to be more aggressive when it comes to expanding our distribution of our one-of-a-kind hand crafted sodas, evident in the addition of six new markets in 2016 alone,” said Hess.
B. Stiff and Sons is also expanding internally, creating new, delicious soft drink options. Just this year, the company has added four new flavors: Ginger Beer, Orange Cream, Cream Soda, and Black Cherry. Before these additions, B. Stiff and Sons brewed only root beer, a soft drink that was launched back in 2012. The original Root Beer was named after Brian Stiff, a Lyons, Colorado resident and father of two who passed away unexpectedly in February of that same year. The root beer is now sold/served both as a soft drink, and as root beer barrel candy. And in keeping with Oskar Blues spirit of community and charity, a portion of all B. Stiff & Sons sales continues to provide financial support for the Stiff family.
With the added markets, B. Stiff and Sons Old Fashioned Soda Pop is now available in nine states, including the four newly added ones plus Colorado, Wyoming, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Look for B. Stiff and Sons at a grocery retailer in any one of these nine geographic areas and enjoy the delicious flavor of small batch, hand crafted sodas courtesy of our friends at Oskar Blues Brewery.
