Colorado’s Oskar Blues Brewery, the company responsible for the resurgence of cans as a means for beer packaging, is releasing another new beer, Priscilla White Wit Wheat. This American version of a Belgium beer is part Belgian White, part Belgian Wit, part Belgian Wheat, and all parts delicious and will be distributed nationwide.
Priscilla White Wit Wheat has actually been around for more than a decade. The beer, which features orange peel and coriander spice, has deep roots that can be traced all the way back to the basement blues music legacy of Dave McIntyre. Many do not realize this, but music was an important part of the Oskar Blues experience in the brewery’s early days (that is where the “Blues” part of the name comes from) andDave McIntyre was an important part of the brewery’s music for more than 18 years. For more than 10 years, Priscilla White Wit Wheat was served on draft at the Oskar Blues Grill & Brew and now, craft beer fans everywhere will be able to enjoy Priscilla’s White Wit Wheat straight from the can.
Oscar Blues Marketing Director Chad Melis says the time has come to spread the goodness of Priscilla far and wide.
“Priscilla is a beer steeped in Oskar Blues’ music history,” said Melis. “A longtime Oskar Blues favorite, we’ve decided its time to bring this amped up, electric brew from the basement and to the masses.”
Priscilla White Wit Wheat will be distributed throughout the month of June in all 50 states where Oskar Blues is presently sold. It will be available in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft. The beer contains 5.2 percent alcohol by volume and 20 IBU of bitterness, both moderate numbers that should make this Oskar Blues beer a palatable hit with most consumers.
