Everyone could use a little more physical fitness in their life routine. There is, of course, the less interesting but still beneficial practice of exercising in the home using simple equipment or breaking into a dance routine or round of calisthenics. But a more enjoyable way to exercise is to venture into the great outdoors and for Great Beer Now, my chosen means of fitness is hiking. You need a good backpack to accompany a lengthy hike and one backpack I recently added to my collection is the Pelican Elite Backpack.

A Hiking We Will Go
Pelican Elite Backpack is a two- compartment backpack. The upper section is 13 liters in capacity while the lower compartment is 5.4 liters in capacity. The straps on the back can be adjusted to fit just about any adult and there is an extra strap that joins the two large shoulder straps, for added security.
Well- insulated and rigid in construction, the Pelican Elite Backpack is designed to hold more than the average backpack and made to keep items protected. The backpack is well- insulted and is made with material that feels like that of a tent. Wherever you happen to hike, you can feel confident that your belongings will remain protected.
Don’t Forget the Beer!
Among the features of the Pelican Elite Backpack, the most unique and the real standout to me is the bottom compartment. It was designed to hold cans and it offers enough space to handle up to seven or eight 12- ounce cans, depending on their width. This bottom section is securely sealed with a large, heavy zipper and while it can keep things cold without any assistance, it can’t hurt to include a thin ice pack.
Exercise and Reward
Day hikes are my most common form of exercise and I have an assortment of backpacks to fit my differing needs. I didn’t really feel the need for another backpack until I learned about the Pelican Elite Backpack and its special compartment. As a beer blogger, I was naturally drawn to this backpack and its extra feature, since it fits in perfectly with my lifestyle.
This backpack straps on easily and it can hold a good deal of items, which makes it perfect for my hiking adventures, which are typically a few hours long at most. I often hike as part of a larger group and part of the fun with a backpack like this is watching the expressions on other hikers’ faces when you open the bottom compartment and reveal cans of cold beer, ready for drinking. It’s common for hikers to add cans or growlers of beer to their backpacks as a reward for a long day of exercise, but few other backpacks are quite like this. People often react in both surprised and intrigued ways when I unzip the bottom compartment and start handing out beer! It isn’t something anyone expects.
The heavy zipper that seals the bottom compartment helps to keep the contents protected from outside elements, but I admit that I am a little concerned about the zipper due to the effort it takes to move it from opened to closed and back. It takes a good yank, and this worries me because I fear it will break. Every time I pull, I hesitate to apply too much strength because I worry that the zipper may break, but I also realize that I must apply strength in order to make it move. I just hope it is as heavy duty as it seems to be. I would hate to break the zipper and no longer have the use of the lower compartment, since it is the one feature that truly sets this backpack apart.
We all need a little more exercise and hiking will likely remain my exercise option of choice. A good backpack is essential and one that easily transports beer is that much better. Pelican Elite Backpack is a practical yet fun backpack that helps me transport all of the essentials for a day of hiking and it’s a good backpack option for anyone who likes to bring along a few cans of brew or other refreshing beverage and make sure the drinks stay cold for the duration. It’s a cool accessory to make a day a day of fitness more enjoyable and a great means to reward yourself when the physical activity is through.

Nice find. My brother and I used to complain about who had to bring the cooler whenever we went camping. This backpack would have solved everything. I’ll have to send this to him haha.

It’s both practical and fun. No one expects a backpack to have a built in cooler! It’s a great conversation starter.
