Riegele Brewery, one of the oldest breweries in the world, has once again achieved recognition as the best of the best in German beer. Named the Germany Brewery of the Year for the third consecutive year, Reigele received the Golden Federal Honorary Award from the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
The above honor would be enough to for any brewery to tap the kegs and celebrate, but there is more. In addition, Riegele also received the Bundesehrenpreis, a prestigious award handed out to the 12 top- rated breweries in Germany. This is the 12th consecutive year that Riegele received this honor. Bundesehrenpreis is considered the most important award in recognition of quality brewing in Germany and the accomplishment is even more impressive when one considers that 1,600 German breweries were in the running for this award.
Sebastian Priller- Riegele, the brewery’s 28th generation brewer, is extremely proud of what his brewery has been able to achieve.
“We are incredibly proud to receive the Golden Federal Honorary Award for the third year running,” exclaimed Sebastian Priller-Riegele, World Champion Beer Sommelier and Riegele’s 28th generation brewer. “To be named Germany Brewery of the Year, along with receiving the Bundesehrenpreis for the 12th consecutive time, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at our brewery.”
Riegele has a rich history that dates all the way back to 1386 when the brewery was opened in Augsburg, Germany. Output is around 140,000 barrels annually and the beer is distributed not just in Europe, but also to Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
