One brewery I can always count on for satisfaction is Rogue Ales & Spirits. This Oregon -based craft beer company has been keeping beer lovers delighted for many decades with its core lineup and rotational seasonal brews. I love the special release beers, but it’s also satisfying with new beers are promoted to year- round release status and that is exactly what has happened with the latest new release Colossal Claude, an Imperial IPA
Dharma Tamm, Rogue President, says this new beer is bold and unforgettable, much like the legendary creature that bears its name.
“As our newest Imperial IPA, Colossal Claude is an incredibly exciting addition to our family,” says Tamm. “This monstrous brew is full of hops and packs a punch worthy of the most awesome monster living off the coast of Newport. Colossal Claude completes Rogue’s year-round IPA portfolio, which also includes Batsquatch Hazy IPA and Outta Line West Coast IPA.”
For those who have not heard of Colossal Claude, it’s Oregon’s version of the Loch Ness Monster. Serpent- like in form, it was first spotted in 1934 and has been terrorizing sailors ever since. Rogue Brewmaster Joel Shields says that, while it has been some time since Colossal Claude reared its head, rumor has it that the aquatic beast has grown tired of feasting on fish and has taken a liking to the flavor of hops.
“It’s been a few decades since a Colossal Claude sighting has been reported, but we’re fairly certain the massive sea monster has been laying low off the coast of his favorite brewery,” says Shields. “Word has it that after years of terrifying sailors and feasting on salmon he acquired a taste for hops. So we brewed this Imperial IPA with a colossal dose of Cascade, Chinook, Citra and Strata hops in hope of coaxing Claude out to join us for a pint.”
I’m thrilled to learn that another impressive beer is joining the Rogue lineup and even though I have yet to try, experience tells me that it’s going to be awesome in every way. It won’t be long- Colossal Claude is set for release on January 1, 2021. It will be available on draft, in six packs of 12 oz. cans, and in 19.2 oz cans.
