Rogue Farms is more than just a brewery. The veteran of craft beer also grows its own produce at Rogue Farms, supplying much of its own ingredients to brew the quality, award winning beer we have all grown to love. Just today, Rogue announced the release of a seasonal brew made using its own freshly harvested ingredients. The beer is Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins from Rogue Farms in Independence, Oregon.
Pumpkin Patch Ale’s brewing and release each year depend on the pumpkins growing in the field. These pumpkins are planted in the spring and gradually grow and mature during the summer months. Once the weather starts to cool, the pumpkins reach the proper stage for harvesting. Once plucked from the earth, the pumpkins are transported to Rogue Brewery in Newport, Oregon, which is about 77 miles away. The pumpkins are then chopped and seeded by hand, roasted in pizza ovens, and added fresh to the brew kettles. Along with the pumpkin, Rogue adds vanilla beans, ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, orange peel, nutmeg, and Rogue- grown Independent hops to create this special, seasonal brew.
Rogue brewmaster John Maier says the special care and fresh ingredients make the labor of love worth the effort.
“It takes time to plant, grow, harvest, roast and brew with our own pumpkins, but real pumpkin beer is worth the wait,” said Maier.
Pumpkin Patch Ale is packaged in 750 Ml bottles and on draft. It is available in places where Rogue beer is presently distributed, but due to its limited production, it won’t be around for long so fans need to take quick action to track it down before the supply is depleted.
