Houston’s own Saint Arnold Brewing, the oldest craft brewery in the state of Texas, has a new beer release designed to match perfectly with an afternoon next to the swimming pool or an early evening of grilling. The new beer is appropriately named Backyard, and it’s coming at you right in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
Sessionable in every way, Backyard IPA is a low alcohol, low calorie beer brewed for those times when you want to have a second or third serving but prefer to keep your mental faculties intact. With only 4.2 percent alcohol by volume, Backyard IPA is brewed with the session crowd in mind. It also has fewer calories than the typical IPA, with just 122 per 12 oz. can and 9 grams of carbs.
Lighter beers often lack in flavor, but Backyard IPA is brewed to satisfy. Everyone knows that hops are what make IPA so memorable, and Backyard IPA is brewed with hopheads in mind. The good guys and gals at Saint Arnold Brewing add Bru-1 to the boil, for an interesting layer of flavor. This is a new hop varietal noted for its melon and pineapple flavors.
Backyard IPA is a limited release beer. It can be ordered and picked up from Saint Arnold’s Beer Garden and restaurant and is not sold in stores, at least not yet. It’s bound to be a perfect match with the hot summers Houston is known for so grab a sixer while supplies last.
