Houston’s Saint Arnold Brewing, the oldest craft brewery in the state of Texas, is often at the center of craft beer innovation. The recent addition of a Beer Garden and Restaurant brought with it not only amazing food, but also delicious special release beer, as the brewers were granted the opportunity to brew small batches for release at the restaurant and in a handful of other outlets.
With the new beer garden and new small batches of beer, Saint Arnold guests were rewarded with beers of distinction: Limited production malt beverage gems not available to most of the public. One of these special beers has now made it into the regular lineup. The beer is Citrodos IPA, a beer created by Saint Arnold Brewer Derrick Frost and the first of these special release beers to get added to the year- round rotation.
Citrodos IPA, as you might guess from the name, is brewed using Citra hops but also contains additions of Centennial hops to create a beer with an aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. The beer is a little lighter in terms of alcohol, at least compared to other IPA, with a modest 6.1 percent alcohol by volume. The bitterness level is also dialed down, with only 32 IBU.
Citrodos IPA will be available on draft and in cans. Looked for this newest member of the Saint Arnold Brewing family in places where Saint Arnold beer is presently sold. To keep up with the latest happenings at Saint Arnold, visit the brewery’s web site at www.saintarnold.com.
