SanTan Brewing is an Arizona operation with a large and growing following. Very soon, something else at SanTan will be growing as the Chandler, Arizona brewery prepares to package MoonJuice Galactic IPA and MoonJuice Galactic Grapefruit IPA in 24 oz. metal cans for the first time. The larger containers will be available year- round and can be found throughout San Tan’s distribution area.
Making the move to larger cans required making some modifications to current packaging equipment. SanTan founder and brewmaster Anthony Canecchia worked with plant engineer Fred Marshall to make the necessary adjustments so that the larger cans would fill and seal smoothly.
“Tinkering with machines is something we love to do at SanTan. We are never content with what we are given and are always looking to improve our game. I am extremely proud and excited to be the first Arizona craft brewer to package in a 24 oz can,” said Canecchia.
Offering larger serving sizes had been a goal at SanTan Brewing for quite some time. Fans like the 24 ounce size because the two can equivalent is often just the right amount of beer for social engagements, sports viewing, etc. and great for those times when you want to purchase some beer, but don’t necessarily want a full six pack. Not only that, but larger can sizes increases SanTan’s ability to make its beer more readily available, since packaging of this size is perfect for convenience stores and sports venue concession stands.
SanTan Brewing produces several core brands, so why did the brewery choose these two MoonJuice IPA’s for the move to larger metal packaging, ahead of other, older styles in the portfolio? Canecchia says it was primarily due to the popularity of MoonJouce IPA. These two hoppy brews have been available in 12 oz. cans and each has witnessed a sharp increase in sales. It made sense, then, to go ahead and declare MoonJiuce IPA the first SanTan beer to occupy these larger, 24 oz. serving vessels.
San Tan’s new 24 oz. cans will be available first in the home state of Arizona before making their way to other markets. SanTan fans should look for the large cans at Circle K, BevMo, Total Wine, and Sprouts locations as well as independent retail outlets.
