Anheuser- Busch stirred up controversy a short time ago when it decided to temporarily re- brand its flagship Budweiser as “America”, but there is at least one other brewery that feels it has a beer representative of the true spirit of the USA.
Schlafly Beer, the largest independent brewery in the state of Missouri, is proud to announce the re- release of its seasonal beer, American IPA. Brewed with American grown hops, this delightful brew will hit stores and other retail outlets starting on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016. Schlafly Ambassador Stephen Hale feels this beer signifies the true spirit of a patriotic brew.
“Boldly American from start to finish, our American IPA celebrates the distinctive hops that grow in the Pacific Northwest,” Hale said. “We named this beer American IPA to reflect those ideals because quality, U.S.-produced ingredients that amount to great taste speak for themselves.”
Schlafly American IPA can trace its ingredients to the hop farmers in Oregon and Washington- the region of the United States where most hops are grown. These northwest grown hops- Amarillo, Simcoe, and Centennial- impart the beer with flavors of citrus and other fruits with a resin- pine nose. The finished IPA product is golden in color and contains 7.2 alcohol by volume with 65 IBUs of bitterness.
Schlafly American IPA is part of the brewery’s rotating IPA series, which includes Farmhouse IPA and Tasmanian IPA. The beer is available through September on draft and in six packs of 12- ounce bottles. The bottles are sold throughout Schlafly’s distribution area.
