Schlafly Beer, the largest independent craft brewery in the state of Missouri, is ready to arouse the palates of hopheads everywhere with the introduction of its new Hop Allocation Series. This year-round IPA beer series features eight different IPA and will be released throughout the 2017 year. About every six weeks, a new IPA will make its way to retailers everywhere starting with Black IPA, a new dark, roasty and hoppy beer that will show up in stores this week and continue through March.
What exactly is the Hop Allocation Series? Well, it takes its name from the different hops and farms from which Schlafly gets its hop supplies. In total, the series will feature 12 distinct hops from nine farms and three countries. Schlafly brewer Stephen Hale says the series is meant to showcase not only the hops themselves, but the different farms that supply them and help make Schlafly beers the distinct and marvelous creations they are.
“We selected the farms based on our long-standing relationships with hop farmers from across the world. We wanted the hops to shine so we somewhat started backwards. We looked at our hop allocation and found styles to highlight their distinct flavors and aromas as well as complement the overall character of the beer,” explains Hale.
Black IPA begins the series and it’s a beer hop heads are sure to savor. Brewed using Midnight Wheat, Northwest hops such as Chinook, and Eureka hops for dry- hopping, Schlafly Black IPA serves up flavors of wheat, earth, and a bold, bitter flavor from the varied hop bill.
Schlafly Black IPA will be sold on tap or in six packs at Schlafly’s Bottleworks and Tap Room locations. The six-packs will be sold throughout Schlafly’s entire distribution footprint.
