St. Louis based Schlafly Beer, the largest independent brewery in the St. Louis, Missouri area, announced the release of Raspberry Hefeweizen in 16-ounce cans. This fruity brew, made using real raspberries, will be available in 12-packs of 16-ounce cans across Schlafly’s distribution area, starting the week of March 18, 2019. The beer will also continue to be available in 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles.
Schlafly Raspberry Hefeweizen is a beer brewed for the warmer times of the year. It’s an unfiltered wheat beer with session qualities of 4.1 percent alcohol by volume and only 16 IBU of bitterness. The beer has a hazy light red/pink hue, the direct result of using real raspberries in the brewing process.
Schlafly founding brewer Stephen Hale says Raspberry Hefeweizen is an easy- drinking beer perfect for the spring and summer.
“Drinking pink isn’t only for the rosé lovers out there,” says Hale. “Our Raspberry Hefeweizen is the ideal crushable beer for warm weather. Now, in 16-ounce cans, it is even more approachable for summer pool hangs, beach time, or porch sipping.”
Schlafly has been slowly but surely expanding its 16 oz. canned beer options. Earlier additions to the pint- sized metal family included Schlafly Pale Ale and White Lager. Starting this summer, Schlafly plans to add its IPA to the 16 oz. can portfolio, offering craft beer fans even more packaging choices than ever before. Craft beer lovers have taken to the metal can in earnest, as everyone knows, and it’s cool to see Schlafly expanding its canned offerings, not to mention increasing the size of the vessels from 12 oz. to 16 oz., which is something only a fraction of the craft beer industry is presently doing.
