St. Louis based Schlafly Beer can always be counted on for brewing innovation and its latest release, Smoked Stout, continues to build on the brewery’s already stellar reputation. Part of Schlafly’s Cellar Series, this malt beverage treat is smoked with beechwood for an exclusive and memorable flavor.
Schlafly Ambassador Brewer Stephen Hale says this latest offering ties in perfectly with the Cellar Series and what it represents.
“Our Celler Beers are meant to be conversation pieces”, said Hale. “It was a 2017 goal to expand our offerings of unique, larger format beers and encourage guests to enjoy and share the beers with friends. The Smoked Stout is exactly what you want to be drinking this time of year. Robust and rich, the appropriate amount of hops provides balance while the Belgian crystal malt and German smoked malt lend complexity”, Hale added.
Schlafly’s Horn & Quill Room, which is part of the Schlafly Tap Room, is the location where Smoked Stout and other special releases are bottled. The bottling line in this room allows for packaging in various sizes and shapes, making it perfect for a brewery that likes to surprise fans with beer releases that are often a step or two outside the box. This same room is where Schlafly’s From the Ibex Cellar series is packaged and the bottling line’s flexibility makes it perfect for creative brewing projects.
Smoked Stout will be packaged and sold in wine bottle- size containers: 750 ml, to be precise. The suggested retail price of this special release beer is $13.99 and it will be available throughout Schlafly’s distribution region, as well as in the Schlafly Tap Room and Bottleworks locations.
