Schlafly Celebrates German Culture with Biergarten 12 Pack

St. Louis based Schlafly Beer has announced the release of a new variety 12- pack. Named Biergarten, this 12- pack contains three exclusive brews – Dunkel Lager, Munich Helles Lager, Bavarian Weiss Ale – along with the seasonal beer, Oktoberfest Amber Lager. The 12- packed is intended as a celebration of the German tradition of Biergartens: a large, friendly, outdoor place of gathering where friends and soon- to- become- friends congregate to enjoy local beers across the Germany nation.

Oktoberfest and Beyond

The fall season is, to most beer lovers, the season of Oktoberfest. The Oktoberfest style is native to Germany, but there are plenty of other beers that also originated in Germany. Schlafly CEO Fran Caradonna says this new Biergarten 12- pack is intended to celebrate not just Oktoberfest, but other German styles as well.

“Schlafly’s Oktoberfest is such a huge hit with our customers for the fall season that we wanted to create a full pack that embodies German seasonal beers,” says Caradonna. “This is our take on classic recipes and a nod to the rich history of that particular tradition.”

What’s in the Pack

Schlafly’s Biergarten variety 12-Pack contains three cans each of these four beers:

• Dunkel Lager (ABV: 4.5%): This dark beer is noted for its smoothness and malty flavor. It is amber/brown in hue, and medium in body. It’s smooth and refreshing, like lagers were meant to be, but with a malty pleasantness that makes you prefer to sip rather than chug, just to savor the sweet, malty goodness.

• Oktoberfest Amber Lager (ABV: 5.5%): This is a Schlafly fan favorite. It’s brewed in the classic Marzen style, amber in color, and features the flavor of sweet, toasted malts.

• Munich Helles Lager (ABV: 4.5%): Another classic German style is Helles. It’s a clean, lager with spicy notes from the hops. It is golden in color, malt- forward, and has a crisp, dry finish.

• Bavarian Weiss Ale (ABV: 5.1%): A beer with a distinguished taste, Schlafly’s take on this German style results in a beer with a banana and clove character. It’s got a golden, hazy appearance and is medium-light in body, not to mention refreshing.
