St. Louis- based Schlafly Beer has announced the return of one of its most popular events, the annual Stout & Oyster Festival set for Friday, March 24, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the historic Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust St, St. Louis, MO 63103). This event is the largest event of its kind in the Midwest and it continues to get better each year. Schlafly takes its commitment seriously, flying in over 80,000 oysters overnight from both coasts. The brewery hosts twenty seasoned oyster shuckers to shuck oysters live all weekend. And, of course, Schlafly brews lots of specialty stouts exclusively for this popular festival.
Community Affair
Schlafly Stout and Oyster Festival involves a large number of people and work tirelessly to bring the festival to the local populace. The brewery works directly with oyster farmers and chefs, many of whom attend the festival as shuckers. It’s an annual event that brings the community together in the spirit of food, beer, and fun.
Schlafly CEO Fran Caradonna is excited to kick off yet another edition of this popular festival.
“Stout & Oyster Festival brings the community together to celebrate great beer paired with fresh oysters. It’s a special time for us, and a tradition that we look forward to every year,” says Caradonna. “No one else in the Midwest has an oyster festival of this magnitude, and stouts and oysters are a natural pairing. We are so proud to have this event as a Schlafly staple.”
Stouts are the Focal Point
Most would agree that stout is the best style of beer to pair with oysters. For this highly anticipated event, the Schlafly brewing team will offer nine new stouts, plus specialty stouts which will be tapped periodically throughout the festival. Some examples include Tabasco Stout, Horseradish Stout, Barrel-Aged Imperial Beast Stout, English Breakfast Tea Stout, Irish Breakfast Cream Stout, Orange Vanilla Stout, Blueberry Vanilla Stout, Dirty Chai Stout, Gingersnap Stout, and more. There is no shortage of brewing creativity, as the above lineup confirms.
If you’re not in the mood for stout or it’s not to your taste preference, don’t worry, there will be other beer to enjoy. Non- stout options will include White Lager, Just a Bit Hazy IPA, Pale Ale, Raspberry Hefeweizen, and others. Schlafly also plans to unveil a special edition Oyster Stout to commemorate the festival.

If the oysters and stouts weren’t already enough, Schlafly’s Stout & Oyster Festival will also offer live music to add to the fun and festiveness. Here is a schedule of bands ready to entertain while you sip on your stout and partake in fresh oysters:
