St. Louis based Schlafly Beer is expanding its year- round beer lineup, but the new addition isn’t really new at all.
Schlafly released a new seasonal beer known as White Lager late in 2015 and the beer enjoyed a highly successful seasonal run. Brewed as part of Schlafly’s Small Brews program and initially released at Hop in the City, Schlafly’s annual fall beer festival, White Lager proved immensely popular with fans. Among the 40 styles of beer served at the event, White Lager’s kegs were the first to run dry, a sure sign that Schlafly had a winner on its hands.
Schlafly Ambassador Brewer Stephen Hale says the newfound emphasis on lager beer, not to mention a high degree of customer satisfaction, convinced Schlafly to release White Lager on a year- round basis.
“Lagers continue to come back into favor for both craft beer enthusiasts as well as novices,” explains Hale. “We heard from so many customers the sentiment that, ‘I could drink this all year,’ and we agree. The mild citrus component paired with the robust, smooth mouthfeel makes you want to keep drinking White Lager.”
White Lager is a German- influenced beer. Brewed as a Zwickelbier, White Lager is a hazy brew with golden color and hint of citrus/orange zest. The beer is brewed using Europils and wheat malts and serves up full bodied smoothness. The final statistics on White Lager show 5.5 percent alcohol by volume and 25 IBU of bitterness.
White Lager joins Pale Ale, Kölsch, Grapefruit IPA, Oatmeal Stout, and Expo IPA in the year- round Schlafly lineup. The beer will be available in growlers at the Schlafly Bottleworks location as well as in six-pack bottles across Schlafly’s distribution region.
