Spoetzl Brewery, the Texas brewing operation best known for its Shiner brand of beer, has announced a $50,000 contribution to aid distressed areas affected by Hurricane Michael, a powerful category 4 hurricane that slammed into the Florida Panhandle, making landfall on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
Spoetzl’s $50,000 contribution has been divided evenly between two food bank charities leading the relief efforts in Florida and Georgia. The two food banks, Feeding the Gulf Coast of Florida and Second Harvest of South Georgia, are each helping take care of the distressed population and are currently soliciting donations to assist with relief efforts.
Shiner Brewmaster Jimmy Mauric says every member of the Shiner family is thinking about the victims of Hurricane Michael and sending positive vibes for a speedy recovery.
“As we see the images and hear the accounts of Hurricane Michael and the devastation it left in its wake, all of us in the Shiner family are thinking of and praying for everyone affected by it,” said Mauric.
Spoetzl Brewery has done what it can to aid victims of natural disasters for many years running. Just a short time ago, Shiner contributed to Hurricane Florence relief, sending funds to assist charitable operations in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Last year, Spoetzl Brewery kicked into gear when Hurricane Harvey devastated the Texas coast and Hurricane Maria slammed into Puerto Rico. Go back a little further and, once again, Spoetzl Brewery was right there, contributing to relief efforts following the 2016 floods heaped upon Louisiana; the 2012 devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy; the 2008 damage caused by Hurricane Ike; and the 2005 catastrophe known as Hurricane Katrina.
Philanthropy is an important component of any successful business. Spoetzl Brewery has lent a helping hand toward disaster relief for many years running, making its mark as a concerned corporate citizen and inspiring others to take action. We at Great Beer Now salute Spoetzl Brewery for its financial contributions to aid these desperate citizens and we encourage all of our readers to step up and make a difference.
