Sea Dog Brewing and parent Shipyard Brewing have a new beer release for your summer drinking pleasure. The new beer is Shipyard’s Florida Brewed Blood Orange, a Belgian style Wit formulated by Master Brewer Bobby Baker. Shipyard is celebrating the new release with a special party on Thursday, April 7 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Sea Dog Brewery location at 26200 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, FL.
Party goers will receive small samples of the new beer and if they like what they taste, they can purchase growlers to go for only $12.99 or drafts for only $3 until 7 p.m. As part of the evening festivities, guests can meet Bobby Baker and take a tour of the facility. Sea Dog/Shipyard is asking that interested attendees please RSVP through the Facebook events page https://www.facebook.com/events/204702239918753/ so that they can estimate the size of the crowd.
Shipyard Blood Orange Belgian Wit, a beer made with warm weather refreshment in mind, is the first Shipyard beer bottled in the Sunshine State. The beer has a distinct citrus flavor, light spice, cloudy appearance, and highly sessionable 5.1 percent alcohol by volume. Brewer Bobby Baker brews the beer with real orange peel and this is immediately noticeable upon first sip.
Paul Carbone, General Manager for Shipyard and Sea Dog Brewing in Florida, is psyched that the first Florida- brewed Shipyard beer is ready for sampling.
“We at the Shipyard and Sea Dog Brewing Companies are really excited to be bottling our first beer in Florida, and there could be no better way to start than with Blood Orange, which was developed and brewed right here in Clearwater, by our Master Brewer and Clearwater native, Bobby Baker and his team,” said Carbone.
The recipe for Blood Orange was inspired by something Florida has in great abundance: heat. Baker and his team went for refreshment above all, but also wanted something that would appeal to Florida residents everywhere. Orange flavor seemed like a natural choice.
“This beer is unique for its blend of tart blood orange and equally sweet Florida orange peel flavors,” said Baker. “The combination creates a one-of-a-kind ale you won’t find anywhere else.”
Florida’s Sea Dog Brewery has already produced 500 barrels of Blood Orange, which equals 15,500 gallons. This will be a year- round offering in Florida with seasonal availability elsewhere. Look for it right now, at places where Shipyard beer is presently sold and/or tapped.
