Beer drinkers in Colorado will be proud to learn that one of their very own breweries has been selected Best Brewery in the Rockies for the 2017 year.
Elevation Outdoors, a magazine dedicated to skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and other activities, just revealed the results of its annual reader’s pool and in the category of Best Brewing, Colorado’s SKA Brewing was named the best in the region. This is the second year for the publication’s competitive “Best of the Rockies” series and it is the first victory for Durango- based Ska Brewing.
Kristen Muraro, Marketing Director for Ska Brewing, says the award reflects the unflinching commitment of the Ska Brewing team.
“We are honored by the overwhelming support from our fans,” says Muraro. “I am proud of the team we have here at Ska for their incredible work and dedication to creating the best beer possible.”
Ska Brewing might be new to beer drinkers in the states where it recently added distribution, but in the world of craft beer, Ska Brewing is a veteran of the business. Twenty two years before this latest “Best of the Rockies 2017” award was handed out, Ska Brewing was born. Before the launching of their brewery, Founders Dave Thibodeau and Bill Graham were known for their love of beer and ska music and could often be found drinking craft beer and listening to The Toasters, a ska music band. The name Ska Brewing seemed perfect for an upstart craft brewery and the two men went to work, realizing their dream. Today, Ska Brewing has been decorated with numerous awards, with Best of the Rockies 2017 only adding to an already overflowing trophy case.
Winning any competition is difficult. When you’re up against so many hundreds of excellent breweries in the American West, the competition is fierce and some would say insurmountable. Ska Brewing beat the odds with an affirmative vote of consumers and has rightfully earned its Best of the Rockies title.
