Seasonal beers are often met with extreme anticipation. Releases that come around less frequently are yearned for even more. Colorado- based Ska Brewing has one such release that beer lovers everywhere cannot wait to try again and after a two- year hiatus, the beer is back. It’s Ska Face, an 11.5% ABV barleywine-style ale, available on store shelves January 5, 2018.
Why the long wait between releases? Well, it’s mainly because this beer takes a long time to produce. Ska Face is aged in Peach Street Colorado straight bourbon barrels for two years in order to bring out the best flavors, This rare brew greets drinkers immediately upon popping open a bottle, with a nose of caramel, vanilla, bourbon, and raisin. The flavors keep the sensuous mood alive, with tastes of oak, dark fruit, vanilla, and even a hint of charred wood. Ska Brewing Marketing Director Kristen Muraro knows that Ska Face fans are many, and she knows this release will not disappoint.
“We’re so excited to offer this year’s release of the Ska Face,” said Muraro. “A true fan favorite, this barleywine-style ale is the perfect brew to enjoy during the winter months, whether as an apres treat or after dinner delight.”
Ska Face is released bi- annually and has captured the attention of beer fans everywhere. It won the 2015 Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival, Wood-and-Barrel-Aged Strong Beer category. It’s a fan favorite that may require more frequent brewing and aging in the future, in order to meet demand. I think everyone who has tried this beer would love to see it turn into an annual release.
Ska Face will be available on draft and in 550 ML bottles, across all of Ska’s markets of distribution. To learn more about this and other Ska Brewing beers, visit online at www.skabrewing.com.
