St. George India Pale Ale Slays the IPA- Fearing Dragon

Hampton, Virginia is a city close to the heart of America, just minutes away from Yorktown, Williamsburg, and other areas important to the founding of the nation. In spite of the pro- American sentiment in this area, Hampton is home to a brewing operation with a decidedly pro- British slant. The brewery is known as St. George and one of its many flavorful malt beverages is St. George India Pale Ale, and American made version of an English IPA.

Alcohol Content: 5 percent by volume
St. George India Pale Ale is a copper/tan colored brew with a moderate level of foam and a slightly below average carbonation. This beer offers a nose that is sweet, with fruity esters in the background.
As for the taste, St. George India Pale Ale is quite pleasant. First, the flavor is biscuit- like and toffee- like, as well as on the sweet side. But this flavor is quickly replaced by fruity citrus flavors, mainly grapefruit and orange. The aftertaste of this beer is nice, with taste sensations like pine and fruit vying for attention.
Unlike many other IPA, St. George India Pale Ale is a relatively mild IPA. It doesn’t have the high level of alcohol common in other IPA and its taste is nicely balanced. Non- fans of the IPA style will find this beer to their liking and the interesting fact is that even beer connoisseurs will find it enjoyable. There is enough complexity present and enough overall flavor to satisfy even the toughest of critics. These qualities make St. George India Pale Ale a very good session beer, much like many of the other products in the St. George lineup.
St. George India Pale Ale, like other St. George products, isn’t easy to find. It is sold in only a handful of states and even though its products have won awards and have won favor with critics, it isn’t likely to expand to the far reaches of the United States anytime soon. Thus, you have to be on the lookout for this beer and when you happen to stumble across a six pack, I recommend you grab it and enjoy. It is a very tasty English style with many great things to offer.
Rating: 8 Cheers out of 10
