San Diego-based Stone Brewing, one of the nation’s largest craft breweries, has announced a new partnership, one that will help protect and preserve the nation’s beaches and oceans. The latest business partner is the Surfrider Foundation San Diego Chapter, a non- profit organization that Stone Brewing has supported in the past and is proud to support once again.
Protecting the Environment
Business partnerships between breweries and charities often involve beer, and for this arrangement, the featured beer is Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager. For every six-pack sold in San Diego County, Stone Brewing will donate $2 to the cause. But that isn’t all. To add to its financial support, Stone will sponsor several activities, starting with a series of beach cleanups. Stone will also be involved with Surfrider’s Paddle for Clean Water. And to cap it off, Stone will host the 20th Annual Surfrider Foundation Art Gala & Auction at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens.
Surfrider San Diego Chapter Manager Alex Ferron is happy to, once again, form a partnership with Stone Brewing.
“Stone has long been the single largest financial supporter of the Surfrider Foundation San Diego County over our 26-years of friendship,” said Ferron. “We could not be more thrilled to welcome them back as an official partner this year as we continue fighting for the protection and enjoyment of our ocean, waves, and beaches, for all people, locally and globally.”
Stone Brewing CEO Maria Stipp can’t wait to get the latest partnership going and support area beaches.
“Stone has always been rooted in giving back to our communities, with nearly $4M donated to charities,” said Stipp. “We’ve partnered with Surfrider for two decades now. Headquartered in San Diego County, our team cares passionately about our beaches. We are looking forward to taking part in beach cleanups ourselves and contributing through proceeds of one of our best-selling beers, Stone Buenaveza, which also happens to be an awesome beer to cap off a day at the beach.”

Support the Cause
Stone Brewing’s donation of $2 per six pack will apply to all six packs sold in San Diego County. The brewery will donate up to a maximum of $25,000 total. Stone Buenaveza is the top selling craft Mexican style lager in San Diego, so it won’t take long to reach this goal. Plus, fans might be interested to know that it ranks as Stone’s #3 most popular beer nationwide. Stone Buenaveza is brewed with sea salt and just the right hint of lime for a crisp, easy- drinking character. These qualities have helped propel it to the brewery’s number three sales position.

The salt and lime larger sounds like an interesting combination. I haven’t bought that for my husband before. I’m sure it would be nice and refreshing for the summer. I do love it when companies do their part to help the environment. It makes me more inclined to support them.
