And if things go as planned, you may never want to.
Stone Brewing Company, one of the nation’s more popular and more creative craft breweries, has announced its plans to open up a new hotel- not just any hotel, but a hotel intended to cater to the specific needs of the craft beer crowd.
Stone Brewing owner Greg Koch is no stranger to the eccentric, as anyone who has sampled the full lineup of Stone products will testify. But why build a hotel? Well, according to sources, Koch has stated that a hotel would not only be unique and interesting as a place of lodging, it would also include extra office space, an aging room, and additional parking to handle the overflow crowds. Stone’s current facilities are limited for a growing company and the new facility would help reduce some of the strain of limited space in the main building.
The planned hotel isn’t expected to be anything grand, at least not in terms of the number of rooms and number of guests it can accommodate. The hotel is only slated for about 48 to 50 rooms, so its capacity will be limited. But don’t think for a second that the “Stone Hotel” will be just another stay at the local Holiday Inn. Anything with the Stone name attached is bound to offer something unique; something that will make it stand out from other hotels and resorts in multiple ways. And if preliminary proposals are any
indication, a stay at the hotel will be memorable, both for its emphasis on beer and for its unusual amenities.
Nothing is set in stone (no pun intended) yet, but officials at Stone have already been toying with some ideas for in- room amenities that will distinguish their facility from others. One possibility is open beer taps in each room. A guest would be able to tap into his/her Stone beer of choice and pay for the pints when settling up the room bill at check- out. Another proposal is an open bar, overflowing with Stone brew, to greet guests at check- in.
Out of room amenities may include a large, open area for scheduling events, ideal for weddings, corporate gatherings, etc. A garden area will provide a natural feel and will keep the hotel looking and feeling, well, very Stone- like and very much like the brewery and restaurant across the street. The idea is to make a visit to Stone Brewing more than just another brewery tour, but rather a destination experience.
Expect the Stone Brewing hotel to be open for business in
2014.
