Detroit, Michigan’s Stroh Brewery Co. relaunched its iconic Bohemian style pilsner in 2016, much to the delight of those nostalgic for a return of the once iconic brand. Today, Stroh Brewery announces an expansion to its single- product lineup with the release of Perseverance, a beer brewed in the style of a session IPA.
Perseverance is the first new product from Stroh since the release of Stroh’s classic Bohemian Pilsner. The new beer will be available only in Michigan, at least for now, and the brewery plans a symbolic first pour event at 6 p.m. on May 9 at Brew Detroit. The event is free to anyone age 21 and up.
Stroh’s Brand Manager, Andy Gurjian, says the decision to move into new styles of beer shows that Stroh’s is a business that, while steeped in the past, is dynamic nonetheless and ready to meet changing customer tastes.
“The return to Detroit began with Bohemian two years ago, and Perseverance is the next vital step in our homecoming,” said Gurjian. “Perseverance IPA represents a shift from the reintroduction of historical beers to new formulations that will define the next great generation of Stroh’s brewing. Our renewed spirit of innovation is a direct reflection of the drive, resurgence and grit that is alive and well in Detroit.”
Stroh’s Perseverance IPA is a session beer with only 4.5 percent alcohol by volume. The beer is brewed at Brew Detroit under direct supervision of Stroh’s Master Brewer, Greg Deuhs, and will be available on draft and in 12 oz. bottles at select locations beginning the week of May 7, 2018. Look for it at a pub near you and if time permits, make your way to Brew Detroit on May 9, 2018, for the ceremonial first pour.
