Valentine’s Day is a celebration of all things romantic. It’s a day when couples reflect and renew the passion that ignited when they first met and it’s a day loaded with sentimental gestures, gifts, flowers, and the like. It can also be a day to take the marital plunge and one place where engaged couples can get hitched with beer in hand is Milwaukee’s Lakefront Brewery.
Lakefront Brewery started this tradition of matrimony five years ago and it has quickly blossomed into a highly anticipated annual tradition. Any couple who has already obtained a proper marriage license can get married at Lakefront Brewery on Valentine’s Day, February 14, by one of the ordained brewery tour guides. Imagine tying the knot with a glass of Lakefront Pils, River West Stein Amber Lager, or Clean Machine Brut IPA in you and your spouse- to- be’s outstretched hands?
Even better yet, Lakefront Brewery is offering the marriage ceremony free of charge! If you like, for a modest fee, you can enhance the experience and memories even further by purchasing one of the following add- on packages:
The Pint Package: With this package, couples will be married by one of Lakefront’s practiced, ordained tour guide officiants. You will each have a beer in hand, served in a personally etched pint glass with your names and the ceremony date. After that, the happy couple can feast on a dessert from Lakefront’s kitchen and grab a pair of t-shirts from the gift shop, all for a price of just $50.
The Pitcher Package: Upgrade to the Pitcher Package and you and yours will get the marriage ceremony; beer served in a personally etched pint glass with your names and the date; and dessert as described above. Plus, you will get your choice of Cheese Curds or Soft Pretzels and a unique flower bouquet for the bride. You will then receive exclusive wedding t-shirts before heading out. The price of this package is $150.
The Growler Package: Those who are truly wanting to splurge will want to opt for this package. It includes the marriage ceremony and personally etched pint glass as described above, followed by a Mini Wedding Cake along with your choice of Cheese Curds or Soft Pretzels. The bride will receive a unique flower bouquet and the groom will receive a boutineer. A professional photographer will document the experience for lasting memories. You will also receive a pair of exclusive wedding t-shirts, all for a price of just $350.
Lakefront Tour Manager Sam Szymborski says the brewery is often the selected destination for couples’ romantic expressions, so it makes sense to continue the love in a major way on the day of the year when romance is most often celebrated.
“People go on their first date here, have their wedding reception, get engaged on our brewery tour, and take their engagement or wedding photos. We just feel the love that can emanate from this place, so we want to celebrate it”, says Szymborski. “There isn’t a better day to do it.”
In addition to the marriage ceremonies, Lakefront Brewery also plans to officiate a mass vow renewal, presided by Lakefront President Russ Klisch. There will be two such ceremonies, one at 12pm and the other at 6pm, on Friday, February 14, 2020.
Anyone who is interested in a wedding ceremony needs to book the event in advance. The form can be found at https://forms.gle/nN3qSzHrQywgJQon6 . Those who wish to renew their vows simply need to show up in time for the 12pm or 6pm ceremony. It is highly recommended that couples arrive early, just to be safe. Beers will be provided for the couple.
