Craft breweries are known for their community involvement. Tröegs Independent Brewing frequently takes part in community initiatives and its latest is another chapter in its ongoing partnership with the The Nature Conservancy. Tröegs has announced a new beer release, Trail Day Dry-Hopped Pilsner, which will help support Pennsylvania’s Kittatinny Ridge, a 185-mile chain of forested mountains that runs through the brewery’s home state.
Supporting the Nature Conservancy
Tröegs co-founding brother Chris Trogner says the Kittatinny Ridge is important in a multitude of ways.
“We grew up in the shadow of the Kittatinny Ridge and it passes within 10 miles of the brewery,” says Trogner, “so we know this land well. And few things are more important to brewing beer than clean water. We’re proud to be working with The Nature Conservancy to help protect a place that does so much for Pennsylvania and beyond.”
Trail Day Dry- Hopped Pilsner is brewed starting with a base of German pilsner malt. The beer is dry-hopped with Saaz hops, which add mild citrus and earthy notes to the flavor. Tröegs then reintroduces fresh lager yeast when the beer nears the end of fermentation. The added yeast at this stage conditions the beer and delivers crisp, clean notes of biscuit, dried spice, and a hint of citrus.
A portion of the proceeds from Trail Day sales will go directly into the Tröegs Trail Day Fund. This fund aims to protect 15,000 acres of the most critical, connected lands on and next to the ridge. Helping to maintain this natural area will benefit the animals that live here. It will also benefit the people and businesses who rely on the clean water flowing from its streams. It’s part of an ongoing partnership with the Nature Conservancy, one of the best known advocates for the natural world.

I thought at first that this was just about beer until I came to the part that proceeds go to conservation of natural habitat for animals. I really feel grateful for those that go outside their zones to contribute to saving Earth and its inhabitants, especially those who can really afford to do big things for it.
This is one of the many things I love about America’s craft beer industry. They are extremely community- focused. They believe in giving back and making the world a better place.
Ooh, I really like their advocacy. I wish I could buy a can someday!
I LOVE to see companies doing good in the world like this. It’s so important that we all do our part.
This is great! Everyone should do what they can! Including companies!
I love companies that consistently do their best for good. I’m all into supporting nature’s conservancy.
What an awesome collaboration! I love supporting companies that also support conservation. We try to do our best for our planet.
YAY!!!! For this!! I live in New York state. I am going to look for this beer the next time I go to the store. Looks delish!
Good for you! You can’t go wrong with Troegs beer- it’s one of the best and most widely distributed in the region.
I do love it when companies give back. The fact that they are donating a proportion of the proceeds to conservation makes me want to buy from them.
Such a cool partnership! What a great company!
This is awesome, it’s good to have a nice environment for animals. It’s cool partnership as well.
I like when companies come out to support something they value. Nature conservancy is a good cause to support.
Ooohhhhh…this is a nice move. The brewing industry needs a lot of water and it’s only a safe venture for them to ensure that it keeps on flowing.
I’d love to help and support the biological diversity of this beautiful, natural landscape. What a great partnership beer this is.
