Canada’s Unibroue Brewery is one of the country’s most frequent recipients of critical acclaim. Most every craft beer fan has popped open a bottle of beer from this famous brewery and often shared the bottle’s contents with a friend. Now, Unibroue is happy to report that one of its beers will be available year round in cans as Unibroue’s award winning Blanche de Chambly makes the move to metal for the first time.
Blanche de Chambly has been around since 1992 and has easily stood the test of time. It has been sold in bottled form ever since and enjoys a popular following so why the move to cans? Well, it came down to consumer demand. The 16 ounce single- serve canned packaging is what consumers want and Unibroue Brewmaster Jerry Vietz says this was the primary reason the brewery decided to expand its packaged offerings.
“We wanted to respond to consumer demand,” says Vietz. “For many years now, consumers have been wanting to enjoy their favorite beer in a can. We are also seeing an increasingly popular trend in the industry towards the 473 mL can, which we will add to the current bottle formats.”
Blanche de Chambly is brewed as a traditional Belgian witbier that is refermented and brewed using coriander and Curacao orange peel for a distinct, palate pleasing flavor. The beer pours to a pale straw color with a fragrant nose. The taste is spicy and citrus- like, with a medium body and moderate alcohol level of 5 percent by volume.
Unibroue brews several excellent beers and Blanche de Chambly ranks among the brewery’s most beloved craft beer options. Now, with the addition of a 16 oz. can, craft beer fans will have an additional option, one that is perfect for an individual serving and that is more portable than bottles since it can be taken to places where glass is forbidden. Look for the new cans in places where Unibroue beer is currently sold and enjoy this delicious witbier from our friends in Quebec.
