Louisiana- based Urban South Brewery isn’t letting the COVID-19 crisis interfere with its determination to keep the beer brewing and the suds flowing.
On March 16, 2020, the governor of Louisiana announced that all bars had to close and restaurants had to limit services. The closures have forced breweries in the state to make adjustments, but it hasn’t stopped them from brewing beer and Urban South Brewery, the largest brewery in New Orleans, has managed to release an amazing 45 unique beers for craft beer fans to pick up directly from the brewery for at- home consumption. Jacob Landry, founder of Urban South Brewery, says his brewery is committed to safety and creative beer during this time of crisis.
“We’ve had to adjust to the new normal, but we are still committed to our community and providing them with the beer they’ve come to know and love in as safe and easy a manner as possible,” said Landry. “Through our weekly beer releases, we’ve been able to give our team a creative outlet during this time, as well as give the public something new and exciting to look forward to every week.”
Urban South Brewery is open for to- go beer sales only and will remain this way until the state government says otherwise. Craft beer lovers are encouraged to place online orders and then drive to the brewery for pickup, anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. Urban South Brewery says they will continue to keep brewing unique beer varieties, with new releases schedule each week. Urban South – HTX, Urban South’s Houston, Texas location just opened recently, is doing the same thing and has released 28 new beers in the Houston market so far.
COVID-19 still has the United States in its grip. It’s good to know that breweries like Urban South are committed to brewing the beer we love in a responsible manner. If you live in New Orleans or Houston, pay them a visit and grab some beer to go.
