Victory Brewing, one of Pennsylvania’s oldest and most respected craft breweries, just announced the release of another year- round beer. The new brew is called Home Grown New American Lager, a session beer loaded with hoppy goodness.
Lagers are not normally known for their emphasis on hops, but Home Grown New American Lager is different. Brewed with Azacca, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Citra, and Mosaic hops, this beer combines these six American hops with pilsner malt for a taste that emphasizes citrus but with a lower bitterness level than one might expect. Victory co- founder, brewmaster, and COO Ron Barchet says this new product is a prime example of what Victory Brewing can do with lager- style beers.
“Lagers have always been a successful and labored style in Victory’s portfolio”, says Barchet. “Our expertise in cold fermentation and use of whole flower hops effectively guided our innovation process for this ‘hoppy lager.’ After sixteen iterations of experimentation, we were able to bring these flavorful hops into a lighter body, while creating a sufficient, crisp finish.”
Victory Brewing already has one nationally recognized and delicious lager, Prima Pils, under its belt. With Home Grown New American Lager, Victory Brewing shows that innovation and creativity are, and always will be, part of what makes its lagers shine. Co- founder and brewmaster Bill Covaleski echoes his business partner’s sentiments.
“Our goal has always been to deliver beers to you that offer satisfying comfort. But, we never overlook the excitement of bold twists and nuanced flavors. Look for Home Grown to deliver all of the above as the crisp lager body supports an aromatic and delicious blaze of whole flower American hop glory,” Covaleski stated.
Home Grown New American Lager is a year round beer, but at the moment, it is available only in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Its limited distribution will, however, be very short lived because by the end of August, the new beer will expand across the United States and in a matter of weeks, it will be sold throughout Victory’s entire 35 state footprint. Home Grown will be offered in both six packs and 12 packs of 12 oz. bottles and will make an excellent addition to Victory’s already stellar craft beer lineup.
