Victory Brewing, Philadelphia’s premier craft brewery, has added yet another member, or shall I say members, to the product family.
This new beer is actually part of an IPA series of beers- a series known as Moving Parts. The name is derived from the series’ main goal, which is to take the fundamental ingredients in any IPA- hops, malt, and yeast- and tweak them periodically to create a highly crafted brew that is constantly changing and evolving. With each release in the series, Victory’s brewmasters will make slight adjustments to the ingredients or process to create a beer similar to the others, yet distinctly different in taste.
Moving Parts 01 is the first release in the series and it’s sure to please hopheads and others who love and appreciate an artisanal craft- brewed work of art. Moving Parts 01 is made using imported two- row malts and whole flower American, English, and Czech hops. The final product contains 7.1 percent alcohol by volume. The future releases in the series will offer similar statistics, but with small changes and tweaks.
Victory Brewing President and Brewmaster Bill Covaleski sees the Moving Parts IPA series as an education in brewing art:
“Just as a single bold stroke or change of rhythm can take art in an exciting new direction, subtle recipe shifts in a craft beer can produce profound flavor changes. Some may feel such complexities are problematic to approach. We disagree. We have a penchant for prolific experimentation and Moving Parts embodies that creative spirit with gusto, resulting in a new end result every four months,” said Covaleski.
Moving Parts 01 will be offered in kegs and in 22 oz. bomber bottles and will be distributed throughout Victory’s present 34 state distribution range. Sources say it will retail for approximately $4.99 per bomber bottle.
