Philadelphia’s Evil Genius Beer Company just released its latest collaboration effort and it’s one that will have fans of thin, 5- hole processed beef patties smothered in onions crying for joy. The partner is White Castle, the fast- food restaurant that put the slide in slider. And the new beer is It Hits Different, an American IPA.
Let’s be Friends
White Castle often lays claim to the coveted title “America’s first fast- food hamburger chain.” Founded in 1921, White Castle is a pioneer in its business. Like Evil Genius, it is widely known for producing a product that tastes quite different from that of the competition. Evil Genius co- founder Trevor Hayward says White Castle’s reputation for individuality, coupled with its longevity, make it an ideal partner for his brewery’s products.
“Nostalgia is such a big part of our brand and with White Castle’s over one-hundred-year legacy it just seemed like a perfect fit to partner with them to create a beer that is as memorable as it is tasty,” said Hayward.
White Castle CMO Lynn Blashford agrees that the business philosophies and practices of the two companies make them an ideal match.
“Evil Genius knows a thing or two about thinking original–so when they approached us on the idea of partnering on the It Hits Different White Castle-inspired beer, it was easy to raise our glasses and say cheers,” said Blashford.
Beer and Burgers
Beer is commonly paired with burgers and millions of consumers can claim to have paired a few brewskis with a sack of White Castles. The new beer, It Hits Different, is aptly named. Both the restaurant chain and the brewery are known for products that do, indeed, affect people in different ways.
It Hits Different is a Tangerine IPA brewed using Sabro and Centennial hops. To answer what is likely your first question, the answer is no, it does not taste like a White Castle slider. Rather, the beer is brewed to be paired with White Castles and it achieves this with a flavor that is fruity/citrus with subtle bitterness balanced with sweetness. It contains only 6.5 percent alcohol by volume, so it leans toward the light side when compared to other IPA.
Get Your Sliders and Beer
It Hits Different will hit retailers beginning on October 3, 2022. It will be sold throughout Evil Genius’ distribution region, which includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Virginia, and Rhode Island. Consumers can find it on draft at participating bars and restaurants. And the White Castle sliders? Well, they are available as always at area White Castle restaurants. If a restaurant isn’t nearby, consider purchasing them from the frozen food section of your favorite grocery store.
A uniquely flavored burger deserves to be paired with an inimitable beer. It Hits Different brings together the best of two American business institutions, capitalizing on their penchants for being different from the norm. Get your six pack and bag of White Castle sliders, kick back, and savor the flavor of burgers and brew, in perfect harmony.
Oh, wow! That’s pretty cool! I bet it will bring in a lot of good business for both!
I haven’t tried White Castle so far. I need to check this out and see for myself. Glad I came over to this post. Thank you for sharing too!
I mean, this is just genius. We’ve been enjoying beer and White Castle for years. Might as well make it official!
This is awesome. There’s really no more classic pairing than Sliders and beer. It’s a time-honored tradition.
I haven’t tried White Castle but I would really love to give it a try! This is really awesome!
This is interesting and it already launched. I will see if I can try this. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve not heard of these before. Love the name of Evil Genius beer. I’d get it for the husband to try just because of the name lol. I love that it has a fruity flavour.
My husband loves White Castle burgers. Unfortunately, we don’t have one close – but that makes it a treat when we travel!
I have not heard of the beer Evil Genius brand before, but this sounds really cool.
I love the look of White Castle. I’ve never seen anything like this in Ireland or even my travels abroad! Very cool!
Sound like a good collab. I really want to try if I can travel to the place.
