Beer festivals are my absolute favorite way to spend a carefree afternoon. The abundance of beer to sample, the lively entertainment, and the chance to meet and mingle with other beer- loving folk make a beer festival the best means to experience my favorite things all in one place. What makes them even better is the fact that a large percentage of beer festivals give back to the community. And a beer festival that takes ‘giving back’ to an extreme level is the Wild West Brew Fest, held each year in the west Houston suburb of Katy.
When and Where is the Festival?
Wild West Brew Fest was originally held in the late spring/early summer. In an effort to avoid the excessively high temperatures common to Houston that time of year, the decision was made to move the event to the fall. It is now held in November, with two additional events held the days prior. For 2022, the dates are:
- K-Town Throw Down: Thursday, Nov 3 from 6pm to 9pm
- Launch Party: Friday, Nov 4 from 7pm to 10pm
- Wild West Brewfest: Saturday, Nov 5 from 3pm to 9pm
This year’s Wild West Brew Fest will be held at Typhoon Texas Waterpark, which is right next door to the previous location, Katy Mills Mall.
What Sets This Fest Apart?
Wild West Brew Fest is a great way to sample beer. Guest can walk the rows and select from several hundred beers. Some are local, some are from other breweries in Texas, and still others are from across the country. Live entertainment is provided all afternoon and evening, with live bands on multiple stages.
Beer and entertainment are common to any beer festival, but there is something that easily sets the Wild West Brew Fest apart and that is its staunch, no exceptions commitment to the community. You see, Wild West Brew Fest donates ALL its proceeds to local charities and non- profits. NO ONE makes any money from the fest. There are no management fees, no loopholes, and no exceptions. You can be assured that the price of your ticket is going to go toward any number of important community causes.
