Beer festivals are my favorite type of event and if you follow Great Beer Now, then you are fully aware that I regularly visit and promote beer festivals across the United States. But there is one beer festival that is near and dear to my heart, and that festival is the Wild West Brew Fest, held on the grounds of the Katy Mills Mall in Katy, Texas. Scheduled for May 4 and 5, 2018, the Wild West Brew Fest has been selected as the best beer festival in the United States by Beeryeti.com and it continues to attract more and more craft beer fans each year.

Wild West Brew Fest is easily one of the largest beer festivals in Texas, attracting thousands of guests. More than 600 craft beers will be available for sampling, served by more than 100 different breweries. Food, live music, games, a beer garden, bagpipe players- these attractions and more await your presence at this west Houston beer affair.
Do it for Others
The vast and varied selection of beer would be enough to convince most people to attend the Wild West Brew Fest, but there is another, even more important reason and that is the spirit of community. You see, the Wild West Brew Fest is one of the very few beer festivals (or any other festival, for that matter) in the nation that gives 100% of its proceeds to charitable causes. That means that EVERY person working the festival, every brewery serving beer, and all of the individuals working tirelessly to bring you the best that craft beer has to offer are doing so on a completely volunteer basis. David Loesch, chairman of the Wild West Brewfest and member of the Katy Rotary, which is the organization responsible for running the fest, says the focus on charity and giving is what makes the festival so special and endearing to so many.
“We do this out of love for our communities and for our fellow citizens”, says Loesch. “We could not do this without the help of our fellow Rotarians and the 600+ volunteers who help us put the event on. It is an amazing time for both the patron and the organizers- we have watched it grow from a small event with 1,700 people 6 years ago to close to 9,000 today. We believe in our event and put 100% behind it. Our job is to make if fun and to give back” Loesch added.

Wild West Brew Fest consists of the main festival on Saturday, May 5 and a Launch Party on Friday, May 4. Both events are held at the Katy Mills Mall, right next to Interstate 10, about 25 minutes west of downtown Houston. The Katy Mills Mall is surrounded by multiple hotels and more are being constructed as I write this article. This makes it easy to find a room, make a weekend out of it, and walk safely to and from the festival grounds.
