Wild West Brew Fest (WWBF) is the premier charity- focused beer festival in the state of Texas. The March, 2023 edition was as successful as ever. It was an excitement-filled weekend, and it was easy to see that everyone had fun! The Rotary Club of Katy was able to raise a record-breaking amount of money for worthy causes, and it could not have been possible without the support of so many individuals, a list that includes volunteers, vendors, brewery personnel, general attendees, and more.
Highlights for 2023
In 2022, WWBF crossed the $1 million threshold in proceeds from 9 WWBF events. The goal is to surpass the $2 million mark in the next 3 years. Every dollar of proceeds is given back to the local community, and WWBF organizers are grateful that the 2023 event, the tenth overall, was very successful yet again. During Friday Night’s Launch Party, WWBF set a record for funds raised at its Live Auction, and the Dueling Pianos was super fun. If you weren’t one of the 1200 that came, make sure to join us at the Launch Party next year.
Saturday’s WWBF event was met with beautiful weather; our Silent Auction raised over $20k, all Activation Zones and bands were very popular and held great crowds. There were over 6000 patrons in attendance throughout the day to enjoy 95 brewers and over 630 beers, as well as 10 different wineries. The VIP Hop House had amazing food and drinks, and the Reserved Craft Room featured delicious, rare beers. If you haven’t experienced these areas within WWBF, we encourage you to purchase those tickets next year. And let’s not forget the 2023 WWBF winners for best food and beer. The top food vendor winner was American Federal Grill, and True Anomaly took home the big trophy this year for best beer. Congratulations!
Volunteering is What it’s all About
WWBF is able to raise so much money because of its many volunteers. There were almost 300 volunteers for the 2023 event, along with dozens of Katy Rotarians, who came to support the efforts. Without these active volunteers, the event would not be possible. Another big round of thanks belongs to the event’s top sponsors, including the City of Katy, HEB, Truist Bank, American Furniture Warehouse and Ace Hardware. It’s important to remind everyone that NO ONE collects any fees to run this event. WWBF gives away everything it makes so that we can positively impact as many as possible. Katy Rotarians are passionate about what they do and are always grateful for the support they receive.
WWBF Forever
We at Great Beer Now have been attending the WWBF and helping promote it from the very beginning. It’s hard to believe that this premier beer and charity festival is now a decade old. It seems like just yesterday that the event began, and everyone wondered whether or not it would be a hit with locals. Any concerns about community support were immediately dashed with the success of the first WWBF and things have looked better and better with each passing year.
WWBF will return in 2024 and will take place the weekend of March 22, 23, and 24. Great Beer Now will be there, as always, and we encourage everyone to join us as we enjoy delicious craft beer, wine, and food in support of local causes. There is no other beer festival quite like WWBF, so get your tickets and join us in the west Houston suburb of Katy, Texas.
