
A short time ago, World of Beer, Inc. announced its intention to hire new employees for what many would consider the job of a lifetime: A paid internship to promote World of Beer, drink delicious craft brew, and get paid in the process. Today, World of Beer has announced that the job search is completed and its selections have been made.
These new positions are part of World of Beer’s all new Drink It Intern Program, a occupational dream that captured the imagination of beer lovers everywhere when the job search was announced earlier this year. In total, more than 7,000 hopefuls applied for one of four Drink It Intern positions during World of Beer’s nationwide 26-day call-for-submission period. Applicants were told to submit a one minute video on the company web site or apply in person at one of eight designated World of Beer locations nationwide. All they had to do was let their personalities shine through and show why they were the right individual for the job. The four month internship is worth $12,000 for each of the candidates.
Here are the 2016 World of Beer Drink It Interns:
- Alison Grasso —Brooklyn, New York — A woman with unparalleled expertise behind the camera, Alison loves to capture and share her adventures which could include anything from travel photography to the actions at her favorite tavern. She works in New York City as a professional video editor for an advertising business and even won the “Best Made In New York” Award at the 2012 New York Food Film Festival. Allison was born and raised in the Baltimore area and attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, so she certainly has the education to back up her experience. She presently lives in Brooklyn with her dog, Igby. View Alison’s submission here.
- Jamaal “Scoop” Lemon and Shep Jenkins —Washington, D.C., Metro Area — Best buds for more than 20 years, Jamaal and Shep are childhood friends from Charleston, South Carolina. They are presently serving as teachers in the Washington D.C. area but on the side, the duo operate an online travel blog that focuses on global community connections, unique locations and music. Jamaal is a huge fan of the hip hop duo Outkast and is another individual with a strong talent for video while his partner Shep values meshing history and creativity as he munches on shrimp tacos. - Ben Lolli — Johnson City, Tennessee — Ben Lolli is a craft beer advocate originally from Canton, Ohio. He earned a degree in mass media from the University of Akron and over the past couple of years, he has devoted his spare time to documentation of beer stories, serving as host, editor and producer in his beer web series. At present, Ben works at an ale house and brewery in Johnson City, Tennessee. His strong interest in entertainment, travel and the outdoors has also landed him jobs in New Mexico, California, Montana, Idaho and Alaska. View Ben’s submission here.
Alison, Jamaal, Shep and Ben will spend their internship traveling, shooting videos, editing, writing, and of course drinking awesome beer then sharing stories with World of Beer guests. Fans are invited to follow World of Beer on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up with the interns’ travels. World of Beer Vice President of Marketing Terry Haley is anxious for the four interns to travel the nation and demonstrate their expertise.
“The response to the ‘Drink It Intern’ program was tremendous, there were a lot of great candidates, personalities and creative minds,” said Haley. “We are excited to have Alison, Ben, Jamaal and Shep on board to assist WOB in sharing great beer and the stories and inspirations behind them, with our guests.”
Anytime you have a competitive job search like this one, you are forced to turn down thousands of exceptional candidates. World of Beer management had to do exactly that as they worked to narrow down the submissions to four individuals.
